I am so mad at myself! Why, oh why didn't I take my camera? We took our new kayak out for the first time at Centennial Lake and although I had my camera with me, I decided to leave it in the car. I figured we wouldn't be out on the lake very long and there wouldn't be much to take pictures of. Boy was I wrong!! We saw the most amazing lily pads and they had the most beautiful flowers. I don't think I have ever seen lily pads in person...especially ones this beautiful. After commenting several times how I wish I had my camera, Kayleigh asked, "So you can take pictures of this beautiful nature?" On our hunt to find a turtle, we spotted what we thought was a turtle peeking out of the water but as we paddled closer, we discovered it was a SNAKE!! We watched it slither through the water back to shore leaving an awesome trail through the algae that was on top of the water. How cool would that picture have been? As we were paddling back to shore, we saw a blue heron standing on the edge of the lake. We were able to get very close to it before it flew away! Now THAT picture would have been awesome!! Sadly the only picture of the kayak I have is of it sitting on our deck! NO pictures of the family enjoying our first outing on our new kayak! I can only imagine...
